Will challenging my band cause it to go up?+
It is possible — the VOA can revise bands in either direction. The risk is low when most similar nearby homes are in a lower band (which is the only case our score recommends a challenge). If our engine says Weak or Don't Pursue, walk away. We'll tell you when that's the right call.
Couldn't I just follow the MoneySavingExpert guide for free?+
Yes, and many people successfully do. The MSE guide is the gold-standard free reference and we recommend reading it. Our pack saves the 4-6 hours of finding 1991 sale prices, writing the letter, formatting the evidence, and chasing follow-ups. If you have the time and patience, you don't need us.
How long until I get a decision?+
Most informal band reviews take 2-4 months. A formal proposal (only available within 6 months of moving in or a band change) takes up to 6 months. The pack includes follow-up email templates for each stage.
Which areas do you cover?+
We cover England and Wales — every address with a current Council Tax band on the VOA's valuation list. Scotland is handled by the Scottish Assessors rather than the VOA and we don't support it yet (the data we'd need isn't available per-property), so we won't sell you a pack for a Scottish address. Brand-new builds may take 4-8 weeks to appear in VOA data — if yours doesn't, we'll refund immediately.
Is this legal/regulated?+
We don't submit the challenge for you, hold any funds for you, or give regulated tax advice. We provide an information product and a tool. The submission — and the signature on the form — is yours.
Do you offer a refund if my challenge is rejected?+
Our refund covers the product (14 days, any reason). It does not depend on the outcome of your challenge — the VOA's decision is not in our control. We are upfront about this because outcome-tied refunds tend to be how dodgier services operate.
