Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 June 2026.

1. Who we are

Challenge Council Tax Band (“we”, “us”) is a trading name of Praxis Ventures Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17251934), with its registered office at Black Bull House, 353–355 Station Road, Bamber Bridge, Preston, PR5 6EE, United Kingdom. We provide a digital information product that helps UK homeowners prepare a Council Tax band challenge. We are not affiliated with HMRC, the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), or any local council. We are not a tax adviser, a regulated agent, or a law firm.

Formal correspondence can be sent to the registered office above, though email is faster — see our contact page.

2. What we provide

On payment of £39 we send you a bundle of PDFs — a cover letter, pre-filled challenge form, evidence sheet, guides and templates — for the property identified by the postcode you supplied during checkout. We do not submit the challenge on your behalf. The pack is delivered to the email address you give to Stripe at checkout.

3. Information, not advice

What we provide is general information and document preparation to help you make your own challenge. It is not legal, financial, tax, or professional valuation advice, and using it creates no adviser, agent, or solicitor relationship between us. You remain solely responsible for deciding whether to challenge, for the accuracy and contents of anything you submit, and for signing and sending it yourself. If you need formal advice, consult a qualified professional such as a RICS surveyor or a solicitor.

4. No guarantee of outcome

The Valuation Office Agency’s decision on any band challenge is outside our control. Bands may be confirmed unchanged, lowered, or in rare cases revised upwards. Our scoring is a best-effort assessment based on the comparables we can see in publicly-available data; it is not a guarantee.

5. Risk acknowledgement

By purchasing a pack you acknowledge that:

  • a band challenge may result in your band being unchanged or increased, which would raise your Council Tax bill;
  • the comparable properties used as evidence are other people’s homes — if the VOA reviews them and decides one of those properties is itself in too low a band, that property’s band can be increased. Citing a neighbour as a comparable can therefore affect their bill, not only your own;
  • the pack is a starting point that you must review and complete (some details can only be filled in by you), check for accuracy, and sign before sending — the submission and signature are yours;
  • the process can take several months;
  • our role ends when the pack is delivered to your inbox; and
  • we have no power to compel a decision from HMRC or the VOA.

6. Accuracy of data and modelled valuations

The property details, bands, floor areas, EPC information and comparable properties in your pack are drawn from third-party and public data sources, which can contain errors or be out of date. Any 1991 (England) or 2003 (Wales) value we show is a modelled estimatebased on regional house-price inflation — it is not a formal RICS valuation or a professional opinion of your property’s worth. Please check the figures and details against your own knowledge of the property before relying on them.

7. Refunds

We offer a no-questions-asked 14-day refund. See our refund policy for full details. Refunds are processed via Stripe and typically arrive within 5-10 working days.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to redistribute, resell, or publish the contents of any pack you receive. Each pack is licensed for personal use in support of a single challenge to the band of the address identified at checkout.

9. Liability

Our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the price you paid for the pack. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

10. Changes & governing law

These terms may be updated; the version in force at the time of your purchase governs that purchase. The contract between us is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
